This project embodies an innovative approach to façade design and fabrication, wherein the creation of forms and the utilization of robotic arms, along with programmed clay printing, converge to produce a distinctive architectural expression.
The overarching design objective seeks to evoke a sense of boundlessness. The façade concept revolves around a continuous, spiraling column, intricately interweaving with its neighboring elements before gracefully parting ways. This dynamic play of form symbolizes an ongoing and limitless connection, reflecting the unending evolution of the architectural landscape.
Beyond its aesthetic aspirations, this design holds a pragmatic purpose at its core. Allowing the clay components to remain unglazed capitalizes on the inherent porosity of fired clay, facilitating the movement of water from the interior to the exterior. This phenomenon is perpetuated through the Venturi effect, ensuring a continual exchange of air. By incorporating water tubes within the clay components, the façade serves a dual function: it shields the building's interior from high temperatures without relying on mechanical air conditioning systems. This symbiotic relationship between form and function exemplifies the project's innovative approach to architectural design, where aesthetics seamlessly merge with sustainable and climatic considerations.
